The Ninth Month: Let’s go back to the Drawing Board.
The Ninth Month: Let’s go back to the Drawing Board.
Hey there! Howdy! Welcome back probably from a long, enjoyable, extremely busy, demanding, and interesting month in 2020. Welcome to the first ember month of the year! Yeah! Do you know what? I am pretty excited as you are because we started this year like any other, making plans and all that, and boom! The pandemic swept us off our feet in split seconds, and while we at it, the tension in different parts of the country with inflation, increase in unemployment, crime, strike, and domestic violence trended. Many came face to face with poverty, hunger, and starvation, or even death. It didn’t just stop with these but man’s social, religious, and even fundamental human rights were threatened; with the forced closure of institutions, recreational spaces, religious arenas, and enforcement of curfews. In fact, one could as well say that all hell was let loose on mankind.
A couple of months before this, nobody ever
envisioned that such would ever occur, and as a result, people had fixed dates
for different ceremonies like naming, birthday parties, burial, concerts,
shows, and much more. These were met with postponement and unimaginable losses.
As a result of the pandemic, many got the disappointment of a lifetime,
businesses were put under lock and key, and many business owners ended up
counting their losses instead of gains. Even though many entrepreneurs took to
social media, but some couldn’t meet up. In some countries, some people
couldn’t take isolation and loneliness anymore and take to the streets in the
form of protests which led to the destruction of lives and property, but things
never got any better.
In light of all these, we are nine months from
the beginning of this year, and seven months into the pandemic lockdown.
Although things seem to be easing up a bit, the tension, fear, stress, wear and
tear, poverty, bitterness, acrimony, and all manner still hover over our heads.
A couple of individuals still battle with their sanity. The curfews are
gradually being lifted; event and recreational centers and other public
ventures are back to business; religious rituals are allowed to hold; airports
are back to operation; schools have resumed, but it seems as though some things
are still missing and few dots are yet to connect.
At the inception of the year, some already saw their
ending from the very beginning, but at a point, everything went all bleak and
cold. As a result, we couldn’t continue with that same energy, rather, we went
deeper into our shell of depression, distress, and unrest. Don’t lose hope yet. We have barely four months to the end of this
year, why don’t you get up from that comfort zone, dust yourself up, and go
back to the drawing board.
I remember vividly that I started this month with a
positive mindset. It is typically one of the things you would need to finish
well this month. I know that there are so many twists and turns to your
situation, so many dead ends, a whole lot of broken pieces, but a singer once
said: “….one day at a time…” and that’s exactly what you and I, and everyone out
there needs at this trying time. Also, Arnold Swaziniga, an award-winning
actor said that what makes the difference is when you fall as many times and
gets up. It doesn’t matter how many times you back touches the ground, but how
often you get up to push ahead. Relaxing or throwing in the towel won’t make
the loss or pains go away, and, unfortunately, nobody knows when all these
would come to an end and you certainly don’t have to time to wait: that dream
of yours ought to be actualized now. This is your moment! Go for it!
I want you to realise that your life is a project, and you are the project manager. It is your duty to man the ship, and review progress at each point till the vessel docks at the destined harbor and on time.
Certainly, the incidents of past months may have
caused us to lose focus, but getting back on track stronger and better makes
all the difference.
