Lemonade: Working and Loving it! Part 1
Lemon Juice!
Not feeling too good about your job.... |
It is 4:30 in the morning, and the alarm goes off as usual. You tighten your arm around your bed not wanting to let go or even lift your tired bones off the bed.
It is Friday, and it feels as though a burden has been lifted off your weak shoulders, and everyone asks you who the new crush is or where the part is at. Most times, you pray that the weekend drags on for eternity, and other times, you party your heart out without regrets.
Immediately it is sundown on Sunday, that same shadow comes back once again to stay with you throughout the week; it seems that this stale feeling would last for a long time.
While at work, you don’t feel your normal self, and at times, it seems as though your colleagues are the cause of all your heartache. In fact, some days, you don’t exchange pleasantries with any one of your team mates, other days, you are all cranky, and everyone stays clear from you. Most times, you feel as though you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is a feeling so unfulfilling hanging all over you like a dark cloud, while you feel as though you are going deep down under, and every other person is in motion. Depression and desperation sets in, and your thought starts going zigzag. At this point, some say, life happens.
One other thing to this is your boss who could seem overly overbearing, and at times, a big bully. For him, you seem not just to get anything you do right, and he snaps at you at every given opportunity; he cares less about his use of sensitive words, and this gets to you like an arrow through your soul. What’s the worst that can ever happen at that moment? We all have a breaking point, right?
I know where your mind is headed, but think a little bit before you head towards that lonely blind path or dead end. At this point, the kettle on the burner is whistling hysterically; it is as though the world is revolving at approximately 360 before your very eyes, and the only thing left to do is to turn back and head towards the exit end. Hold it right there! Let’s take a count: you have bills to pay, you have to feed, and you have absolutely no means of survival. Your situation even looks uglier when you have no savings, and you didn’t get around learning some skills or picking up some courses while working, probably because you worked under a tight schedule. Hmmm, what a tough one!
When your mind is made up.... |
Truth be told, it is so dicey to throw in the towel at that very much. You don’t have to give up too soon, do you? No! Look here, no matter how unfit you have been made to feel about a position, no matter how incompetent he tells you that you are, and no matter how bad you feel – inside and out – look at that pretty face of yours in the mirror, and tell it that nothing is as good as you out there! Forget those who would tell you to break right through the door, nada! You have to dig the foundation before you lay the stones, right? Good thinking.
Now, walk and work alongside the path to getting more fulfilled in that space.
Take a Break!
There are key factors to handling certain things we consider as serious issues in life; one of the few ways around them is this: by putting all challenges on a chopping board, and gradually you dissect each to the last femur. Yes, it seems quite difficult to imagine, much more, giving it a thought. Hold it! Hold it! If you seat and think of how we draw in air, and expel it, I bet you that nothing in this world seems as irrational as that. So also, numerous things we see happen around us were never pre-planned before the event. It is an uphill battle at first, but consistency coupled with due diligence makes all the difference. Did I get your attention there? So, get your cup of whatever you love drinking ready by your side, and let’s take a long drive....
