Lockdown Mood in Times of Covid-19

Lockdown Mood in Times of Covid-19

What have we all been up to so far?

The clock is ticking, days turn to weeks, and then a month or even more. Our hearts are racing, our accounts run dry, the pantry seems empty, and then the broadcast: another lockdown has just been announced.

Tension in the Air

Yeah! I know we are all glued to our TV screens, radio sets, phones, and all that. This would certainly be as a result of the rate at which the number of those infected with Covid-19 has been on the increase. It doesn’t even get better with the issue of One Hundred Million boys activities in Lagos, videos or pictures of people forcefully hauling food items from trucks,  hunger in the country, all manner of violence, drama of naked dancers or twekers on Instagram live or even the fact that nobody knows when all these would come to an end. Maybe that’s why some people have given up hope, and taken to streets to go about their businesses with the recent traffic jam incident on third mainland bridge in Lagos. The frustration is real, and it’s hitting hard: businesses are shut down, people are losing their jobs, and nobody remembers a 9-5 feels like anymore. What can one do? Obviously, it seems this period has really brought to light the good, the bad, and the ugly side of mankind.

The Right Spirit

Although in the midst of all these wahala, I am strongly aware of many whom have decided to make the best out of the season even if the sky falls –that’s the spirit. I know that ever since you started that dream job or start up, you have always wanted to do so many things, but your time schedule seemed too occupied to entertain any other side distraction. This is the time to learn that course, to skill up online, to lose that weight, and to do all manner. Apart from that, do you have any idea that this is the best time to take out some time, withdraw into your closet, and pick up the broken pieces: in the real sense, go deep down into your life, and weigh your options about where you were, where you are, and where you are headed.

Come for a Short Drive

So, let’s take a good look at what some of us are up to:

1. The Plate Industry.

We all know that one of the things which the government recognises as an essential commodity in this period is food, and that’s why our markets are still open. Also, some bakers, chefs, and food vendors have retired to working from home. Thanks to dispatch riders who get these essentials right to our doorsteps. Let’s look at what Chinwe's kitchen, a baker in Lagos has to say. At any time you wish to enjoy a plate of healthy sweet food, contact her on IG @Chinweskitchen or +2348093945054.

What spurs my passion for my business is seeing smiles on my client's face after a well done job and knowing that I can empower a generation through my craft.

Lockdown has really affected my income; no movement to satisfy my customers that are far and not doing what I love most: putting a smile 😊on faces.

2. The Fashion Way.

One thing about life is that at a point, we find our passion, and it’s simply everything. We would certainly want to look our best after the lockdown, but not only that, you can always get the best deals out there with just a click or a call.

Onyinye.

Onyinye is the CEO of OniBata, one of the best hands in anything footwear. The most interesting part of it is that they are not only durable, stylish or colourful, but they simply go with your attire. Do you want to hear more? These smart beauties are so affordable that you would be tempted to go for two at once. She works from home, and can always deliver when you call @+2349024417504 or you can make your choice on IG @OniBata. Let’s get one or two from her:

My passion for footwear, especially slippers and sandals, spurred me to set up ONii Bata!

The Lockdown has affected my business in the sense that production has been put on hold because we can't source for materials from any market as all has been shut down!!

Kennix

I call her the bead merchant. There is something adorning and stylish about beads especially when they are well crafted. This lady’s beads would leave you wanting for more. Not only that, you can try out her alluring waist beads too. Hit her up on 08032672302 and the delivery guy would come knocking at your door.

Being broke spurs my passion

It has run my business down the drain. All my hustle is on hold!

Jess

When I talk about my No1 Jumia agent, she is the one. She would stay up all night to make sure that she gets the best deal out there on Jumia. Even if you have issues with whatever you received, just take a nap, and before you know it, everything would be resolved. Do you love fashion? She gat your back. You need home essentials? She is right here  @08172452877 @your_jumia shopper to take your order.

Patronage, referrals and good feedbacks spur my passion for my business.
People tend to manage what they have for feeding now since no one knows when the lockdown will be lifted, so before they buy anything, it has to be a major priority and it slows down my business.

3. The Body Shop

I don’t know about you but I love taking good care of me. Your body is an essential commodity, have you ever thought or seen it that way? How much do you take care of your skin? I don’t mean bleaching. Well, Faith is one Oriflame agent who I can trust with getting your skin radiant as ever. Get her to fix you up on 08062250965.

The fact that they are purely organic, and perfect skin set product spurs my passion for this business.
The lockdown affects my distribution. I have a lot of orders but little or no means to distribute afar. Transactions are slow because banks are on hold

4. The Rest of Us

Well, I am not here to take your order, but there are a few of us who picked one hobby or the other during this season, started off one business of late, and would love to share. Just leave a comment below because we all are in this together.

I hope you enjoyed this short read.
